This is a notice I received from a friend. I have to point out that this is only one of three bills of which I am aware that addresses the issue of minimum wage in Virginia. The differences to me appear neglible, they may be important to others. For that reason, I edited the notice to read ‘express your views’ rather than ‘urge them to support this bill’.

House Bill 539, legislation to increase the minimum wage in Virginia, will appear before the Utilities/Employment subcommittee of the House Commerce and Labor Committee on Tuesday, February 7, at 7:30 a.m. This bill would increase the minimum wage in Virginia by $1 per year for the next three years, putting cash into the pockets of struggling workers across the state.

Four members have agreed to support the bill: Delegates Tata, Parrish, Plum and McClellan.

Four others have not committed: Delegates Byron (chairperson), Kilgore, Nixon, and Abbitt.

Please contact all the members and express your views.

The minimum wage is meaningless now, the republicans dont want it to be meaningful again. I cant imagine living on $6 an hour, and then some even manage to support children. The true heros:-)
